What:   The GW Tourism Alumni Network Board cordially invites members of the GW community to join them for the annual Spring Colloquium. This year’s keynote speaker is Amir Eylon, Vice President, Partnership Development for North America at Brand USA.  Eylon is responsible for developing brand partnerships in the United States and Canada, with a focus on creating and executing innovative, customized marketing solutions that deliver demonstrated value for strategic partners and support Brand USA’s mission of increasing international visitation to the United States.

GWSB  invites members of the GW community to a program hosted at the Bank of America headquarters in downtown Charlotte. Please join Dean Guthrie for a discussion on U.S.-China business relations and learn how GW is fast becoming a destination university in China.

Dean Guthrie holds an A.B. in East Asian Languages and Civilizations and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. He has studied in Taipei, Taiwan and conducted his doctoral research in Shanghai, China. He has also authored, co-authored, and edited numerous books, articles, and reports on Chinese economic reform, leadership, and corporate social responsibility.

Panel Airs Corporate “Tone at the Top”

What:  The next program in GWSB’s Institute for Corporate Responsibility’s (ICR) Challenges in Corporate Governance series will focus on the role of corporate directors in establishing a corporate culture – or “tone at the top” — that permeates their companies.   The concept, while not new, became particularly important for boards after the accounting scandals in the early part of the decade and the 2008 financial crisis.  The series is co-sponsored by ICR and the Center for Law, Economics, and Finance (C-LEAF) at GW Law.

GWSB Professor Takes Part in Panel on Sports Injuries

What:  A panel discussion on sports injury risk.

The George Washington University School of Business and the International Women’s Forum to Host “On the Board” Launch Event

 

Event to Recognize First-of-Its-Kind Leadership Program for Top Female Executives

EVENT:

The George Washington University School of Business, in partnership with the International Women’s Forum (IWF), will launch “On the Board,” the first-of-its-kind training and placement program for the world’s top female executives. Made possible through a generous gift from Linda Rabbitt, founder and CEO of Rand Construction Corporation, GW trustee and IWF member, “On the Board” aims to reshape the business landscape by building a pipeline of women prepared to serve on the boards of leading international companies. This event will introduce the inaugural class of 15 fellows. This select group of female executives was chosen on the basis of leadership achievements and potential to serve as effective corporate directors. The event will explore “On the Board’s” role in righting the gender imbalance, and why expanding the participation of women on corporate governance boards is better for business and society. Sports Industry and Networking Conference

GW will host a sold-out Sports Industry Networking and Career (SINC) Conference, the leading sports career conference for students, recent graduates and those interested in changing careers, Feb. 8-9.

The conference typically draws over 100 sports industry executives representing entities such as the National Football League, Major League Baseball and NASCAR as speakers, panelists and roundtable lunch participants. They will provide insights into sports business trends and advice on entering the competitive industry.

This year’s keynote speakers include Mark D. Lerner, vice chairman & principal ownerof the Washington Nationals, and DeMaurice Fitzgerald Smith, executive director of the NFL Players’ Association.

“The SINC Conference continues to provide attendees with incredible access to the leaders in the sports business world, and our 2013 event will be no different,” said Lisa Delpy Neirotti, the conference co-founder and director of GWSB’s sport management program.
