Brian Stygar, MSIST, `06, an expert in border security technologies, has been named the 2012 Government Contractor Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Innovator of the Year by the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) and Washington Technology Magazine.

The award recognizes CTOs for “critical contributions to achieving results for their customers and their leadership within their own companies.”

The NVTC, the membership and trade association for the technology community in Northern Virginia, is the largest technology council in the nation, serving about 1,000 companies and service providers, universities, foreign embassies, nonprofits and governmental agencies.

Stygar is CTO for Kore Federal, a leading provider of information technology solutions and management consulting services to the federal government.

He is managing Kore’s efforts to design and implement cloud computing, enterprise mobility, advanced analytics and automated risk assessment solutions for its border security, intelligence and defense customers. He has participated in delegations to aid U.S.-allied immigration and customs agencies in ten countries across five continents to improve the use of technology to identify criminal and terrorist activity.

Stygar said Kore was fortunate to work with federal customers who value innovative information technology solutions and have the means to implement them. He said his award reflected “the value of Kore Federal to its customers.”

The other is former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, a friend of Moore’s and fellow avid golfer. The club – home to the Masters golf tournament – has faced criticism in the past because of its men-only membership. Rice and Moore will receive club members’ signature “green jackets” when the new season beings in October. Moore is vice president of Rainwater, Inc., a private investment company founded by her husband, Richard Rainwater. Read more about Moore’s invitation to join Augusta in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
