Students Hope to Hit Big in “Pitch George”

Students will pitch their best business ideas at GWSB this weekend when they compete in GW’s 6th Annual Pitch George competition.

The “elevator pitch” competition is designed to encourage students to develop winning entrepreneurial ideas and pitch them to teams of judges. They gain feedback, experience, and the chance to win cash prizes.

The competition is open to GW undergraduate and graduate students, with prizes going to the top three finishers in each tier.

First-place winners get $2,000; second-place, $1,500; and third-place; $1,000. There are also $500 “fan favorite” graduate and undergraduate prizes.

Individuals or teams of two or three people submit 200 word executive summaries of their entrepreneurial ideas for Pitch George. Those chosen to compete are given three minutes to pitch those ideas to judges.

In addition to prizes, first-place graduate and undergraduate winners automatically advance to the semi-finals of the GW Business Plan Competition, where they have an opportunity to compete for prizes totaling $101,000.

Saturday’s competition will take place from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the 6th Floor of Duques Hall.
