Career Fair Opens Window on Job Market

1239617_10151821562152891_461921371_nRepresentatives of a multinational corporation, professional services firms and a real estate developer are among those who will talk to students about jobs in their industries at this month’s GWSB Fall 2013 Career Fair.

Sponsored by the F. David Fowler Career Center, the fair is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 26, on the third floor of GW’s Marvin Center.

GWSB career fairs provide students with opportunities for networking with hiring employers and learning more about careers related to their academic programs.

Traditionally, the Center has sponsored a career fair in the spring, to coincide with students’ imminent graduations and companies’ hiring seasons.  Last year, a fall fair was added to give students a jump on job searches; it drew interest from over 400 undergraduates.

Companies registered for this year’s fall fair include Deloitte, General Electric, the U.S. Postal Service, KPMG, and B.F. Saul.  An estimated 30 employers are expected to attend in all.career_week

Following the fair, on Sept. 30, the Center kicks off a weeklong series of programs designed to help students get up-to-speed on their readiness for the job market.

“Career Week” will focus on opportunities in finance, marketing and consulting, with activities for both graduate and undergraduate students, including panel discussions, networking sessions and one-on-one coaching.
