Thirty-seven students were recognized over the summer for successfully completing GWSB’s Event Management Certificate Program.
Kristin Lamoureux, director of the International Institute of Tourism Studies, welcomed the graduates, and their families, to the July 20 commencement ceremony at the City View Room at GW’s Elliot School of International Affairs.
Lea Hutchins, who launched her own company, Touch Communications LLC, in 2012, and previously served as a press aide to President George W. Bush and director of communications for the Pentagon Memorial Fund, delivered the student speech. The keynote address was given by Barbara Blauhut Archambo, director of special events at WETA, the flagship public broadcasting station in Washington, D.C.
The certificate program is designed for students interested in the theoretical and practical aspects of event and meeting management, including research, design, planning, coordination and evaluation. Students study best practices in promotion, organization and risk management. To learn more about the certificate program, go here.
