Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has published a book on the Fed’s history and handling of the nation’s financial crises that’s based on his 2012 lectures at GWSB.
The lectures, which drew widespread media coverage, were part of a course on the role of the Fed in the economy.
In the lectures, Bernanke traced the history of the central bank from the financial panics of the late 19th and early 20th centuries that led to its founding, in 1913, through the Great Depression, World War II and the 2008 financial crisis.
The book, The Federal Reserve and the Financial Crisis, is based on the GWSB lectures. It offers insight into the Fed’s handling of recent economic challenges, and lessons that can be taken away from its actions.
