New `First Sunday’ Speaker Series Kicks Off

GWSB’s graduate programs is hosting a webinar series on the first Sunday of every month from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m.

The webinars will feature a guest speaker for the first hour and a student or other speaker for the final 30 minutes. Here is the schedule:

  • MAY 5:  “Social Entrepreneurship” with Scott Rechler, MBA, ’12, director and CEO of LearnServe International, a non-profit organization that prepares high school and middle school students to be leaders in their communities.  Rechler graduated from Harvard College with a BA in social anthropology and is co-founder of Harvard’s Race, Culture, and Diversity Initiative to improve campus inter-cultural relations. He was a 2009 winner of the Linowes Leadership Award of the Community Foundation of the National Capital Region. To register, go here.
  • JUNE 2Secrets of Silicon Valley: What Everyone Else Can Learn from the Innovation Capital of the World – a book discussion with Deborah Perry Piscione, best-selling author. Piscione moved to Silicon Valley and built up three companies in six years:  BettyConfidential, a leader in the content and e-commerce space; Alley to the Valley, an organization that networks the most influential women for deal-making; and Chump Genius, an educational gaming company for kids. Her upcoming book discusses the factors underlying Silicon Valley’s success and how other communities can benefit from its example.To register, go here.
