A $1 million gift to GW from Evelyn Y. Davis, the nationally known advocate for shareholders and corporate responsibility, will support GWSB and the University’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
A long-time resident of Washington, D.C., and former GW business administration student who is a regular guest on CNBC, CNN, the Today Show and other television news and talk shows, Davis is an active shareholder in more than 80 corporations.
For 47 years, from 1965-2012, she self-published a newsletter on corporate governance called “Highlights and Lowlights,” where she reported on corporate meetings she attended. She has frequently spoken on corporate governance at colleges and universities.
“This inspiring gift will help ensure the ability of our School of Business to continue engaging the issues of corporate responsibility that have been the focus of Mrs. Davis’s highly influential work,” said GW President Steven Knapp.
As president and trustee of the Evelyn Y. Davis Foundation, Davis has previously supported GW with contributions to the Estelle and Melvin Gelman Library, the School of Media and Public Affairs, the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the George Washington University Hospital.
