GWSB second-year MBA student Peter Widmer is among six students who have been named 2013 OneEnergy Scholars, an award given to individuals who have demonstrated leadership and vision in the field of renewable energy.
The announcements were made by OneEnergy Renewables, a developer of large-scale clean energy projects, at the 2012 Net Impact conference. Net Impact is a nonprofit organization of students and professionals who are interested in using business skills to support social and environmental causes.
“These are extraordinary students,” said OneEnergy Renewables CEO Bryce Smith, who described the students as exemplifying the dedication and intellectual capacity required to move the clean energy industry forward. “Their backgrounds and skills are varied and impressive, and each has demonstrated a deep personal commitment to renewable energy.”
The honor is aimed at accelerating the careers of promising students in the field of renewable energy by providing them with personalized career counseling, internship opportunities, and peer and professional networking,
Widmer said he was dedicated to a “career in clean energy because I believe in its opportunity to improve business competitiveness, enhance social and environmental conditions, and drive economic growth.”
OneEnergy Renewables specializes in the development of large-scale clean energy projects that are accessible and cost-effective for utility, corporate, and institutional clients.
Net Impact CEO Liz Maw said the scholar program provides opportunity for student leaders to build skills, deepen knowledge of the renewable energy field, and receive mentoring as they try to build careers with “sustainable impact.”
