Dean Doug Guthrie delivered a speech, “The Impact of the Federal Budget on Education in America,” at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants National Governmental Accounting and Auditing Update Conference on Aug. 21.

Dean Guthrie addressed problems facing higher education, including declining federal investment and that American universities – long considered a global leader in this area – face increased competition from countries like China, India and South Korea that are strengthening their education systems and producing competitive graduates.  Dean Guthrie said innovative thinking and creative leadership is required in the search for new funding methods.
