Wembley Stadium

For a soccer fan, Wembley’s status is like the status of Madison Square Garden for a basketball fan. The old Wembley Stadium was famous for its two white towers on the front side and it was the main stadium for the 1948 summer Olympic Games. In 2007, the new Wembley Stadium (in above picture) opened and replaced the old stadium. The new Wembley was soon became one of the best-known soccer stadiums in the world with the capacity of 90,000, which is the largest stadium in the UK. Today, the new high arch has become the symbol of the Wembley.

On August 1st, I went to the Wembley Stadium to watch an Olympic men’s football game, Korea vs. Gabon. The picture showed the outside crowd before the game. Even though most of the spectators were not from Korea or Gabon, they were still excited about watching an Olympic game in such a legendary stadium.
