Womens’ Football Finals- USA vs. Japan

By Abby Wessman

I have truly lucked out with Olympic tickets here in London. Although CoSport (the London Games ticketing agency) lost the field hockey tickets I had purchased online back in February, they were able to produce a women’s finals football ticket for me instead. (little did they know I would’ve much preferred these over the field hockey, had they been available and in my price range back in February!) On top of this, USA made it to the finals so I was super pumped to wear my red, white and blue and wave the America flag all on the packed tube ride to Wembley Stadium. Once I was inside, to my surprise my tickets were 6th row from the floor, center field. It was an amazing view and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch USA win and receive the Gold in the medal ceremony. Another record was also broken last night- Wembley Stadium reached its’ highest attendance, at 80,230 people. Incredible all around! Leaving the stadium was a bit tricky as all of us tried to leave and hop on the tub at once, but the police and security staff did a great job controlling the crowd and getting everyone home as quickly as possible.
