Sneak Peak of the Future

The other day a few of us had the opportunity to go to the Japan House. This was by far one of the more authentic and cultural houses we had been to thus far.  We had the opportunity to get a sneak peak into Tokyo’s plans for 2020.  As you may or may not know, Tokyo, Madrid and Istanbul are the three cities left bidding for the 2020 games. We had the pleasure of getting a brief presentation of Japan’s plans for the 2020 games. The presentation was done on a large screen and was being controlled from an Ipad (Japan is clearly years ahead of any of the other host cities on the technological side). Mr. Mizzuno gave us a 3D look at where the different venues would be, including the Olympic Village in Tokyo.  Afterwords we were able to enjoy some authentic Japanese food and catch the finals of the 100m butterfly with a small crowd of Japanese people (Phelps won). The female students, along with our professor had the pleasure of trying on their first kimono while enjoying some Japanese beverages.  It was quite the experience, not to mention we each managed to walk away with a few Olympic pins.
