Maccabiah Pride

In 1997, my dad competed in the 15th worldwide Jewish Games, the Maccabiah. I brought his Team USA jacket to wear while in Olympic Park, lacking adequate USA apparel. I was surprised to find how many other Maccabiah alumni/families I have met walking around the Park and on the Tube (I met a Team USA doctor as well). Although obviously not quite as prestigious as competing in the Olympic Games, I honestly do not think I fully appreciated the dedication it took my dad to win a Bronze medal in tennis. Meeting others who have experienced the Maccabiah has given me a new sense of pride in my dad’s accomplishments as an athlete.
