The Olympian with the most medals is ignored

There’s a big difference between watching the Olympic feed through BBC and watching the Olympics on a NBC television station. The key Olympic stories highlighted in London are mostly the tales of British athletes with newly claimed medals. In some ways it is an opportunity to view the news from another prospective and see how another country views the Games. On the other hand, in the past few days Michael Phelps received a medal in enough races to make him the most decorated Olympian in Olympic history. This is not just a record in the US. This is a worldwide Olympic record and the British news barely mentioned it. Michael has two more races and I wish him the best of luck. I guess I’ll just have to catch a glimpse of NBC news when I arrive back in NJ in order to feel the US support for Michael.
