London Hospitality
In the past two weeks, I have met some of the most helpful and kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Whether I need assistance from security staff, London 2012 volunteers, restaurant employees or just find myself conversing with a Londoner on the tube, I have found that the locals have gone out of their way to do their part in being a positive representation of the city of London. The other night at dinner, the waiter forgot to bring out a cup of tea that was ordered and I ended up getting a free cup of mint tea. He said that our friend shouldn’t “enjoy her tea alone.”
How much is this just the personality of the locals and how much is due to the Games? To be honest, I don’t know the answer. This is my fifth trip to London and I have found that people who live in and around London are always nice, but I feel that in some ways people are turning on the charm to make sure London is represented in a positive light. Either way, I am thankful for all the happy volunteers and smiling faces.
