The Live Site Experience
This afternoon a few of us went to BT London Live in Hyde Park to catch some of the competition on the big screens and hang out with the huge international crowd in London. BT London Live is one of a few ‘live sites’ in the London area – a free and secure (bag checks and magnetometers) public space for people to watch live sporting events, listen to bands and other entertainment, eat, drink, and experience the general splendor of the Olympic Games with people from all over the planet. The first few days didn’t see huge crowds (most likely due to the weather) but today this place was hoppin’! There were large crowds in front of the many different screens, each showing different events. When something exciting happened on the screen, the crowds would clap and cheer, ooh and ahh…regardless of the country competing…which was a pretty cool phenomenon to behold. Here’s a video of the crowd in front of the screen showing men’s gymnastics so you can get a feel for what it’s all about.
