Awards Recognize Outstanding Faculty, Staff and Students

Pradeep Rau, GWSB professor of marketing, won the Board of Advisors' Outstanding Faculty Award.
The annual GW School of Business Board of Advisors Awards, held May 12, recognized faculty, staff, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students for outstanding commitment to the School of Business. Members of the GWSB community nominated the winners, who received a recognition plaque and $1,000 award. The 2011 winners were:
Outstanding Faculty Award: Pradeep Rau, Professor of Marketing
“Whether is it serving as Senior Associate Dean to Dean Susan Phillips, aiding Dean Doug Guthrie during his leadership transition, or a sustained commitment to academic excellence in the classroom, Pradeep is the absolute embodiment of outstanding service and commitment to GWSB,” the Board wrote.
The Board received multiple nominations for Rau, and each stressed his character, strong work ethic and passion for teaching.
Outstanding Staff Award: Tatyana Kuzina
Kuzina’s award recognizes the “wonderful service and support she provides to Department of Accountancy. As the department manager she works to ensure that all courses are scheduled, room assignments have been made, faculty have the proper administrative support and that student course enrollment issues are handled in a timely manner. Her colleagues in both the department and the school have heralded her work as both efficient and exemplary,” according to the Board.
Outstanding Doctoral Candidate: Kashef Majid
Majid’s award recognizes his numerous contributions to the school’s research efforts. He was instrumental in designing a research pool that will facilitate data collection to support experimental research for all faculty and doctoral students in the business school.
Outstanding Graduate Student Award: Adam Johnson
Johnson received the award because of his service-oriented attitude and hard work in the Accelerated MBA Program. “As an Accelerated MBA Program Student Ambassador, Adam has worked tirelessly to speak with and recruit new students. In between juggling a family and his studies, Adam is never too busy to speak with incoming students about his experience. His academic colleagues describe him as hard working, dedicated and always willing to help others. All of these are character traits that the school hopes to instill in all students,” the Board wrote.
Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award: Daniel Preiss
Preiss was recognized for the leadership role he took in the GWSB Undergraduate Program. He served as vice president for Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity, co-chair of the Mintz Sophomore Gateway and co-founder of the GW Compass Fellows Chapter. “In all these leadership roles, Daniel has sought to connect alumni, friends and current students in an effort to enhance the GWSB Undergraduate experience,” according to the Board.
