Local, National Employers Recruit Students At Career Center Fair

Students and employers connect during the "Just in Time" Career Fair.

GWSB students had an opportunity to meet with recruiters from more than 50 organizations at the annual Just in Time Career Fair, hosted April 7 by the F. David Fowler Career Center.

Representatives from a mix of companies were present at the fair, including Constellation Energy, Heartwood Consulting, Apple, BB&T, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, and a number of government agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Treasury and the U.S. Department of State.

Recruiters said they were impressed with the quality of students they met at the fair.  “Students were very sharp and most were well prepared. We were surprised that some had experience to qualify for our mid-level positions, an opportunity not found at typical university fairs. Most had been employed through internships, which is nearly a must in today’s environment, ” one recruiter said.

As a result of the fair, 50 percent of employers surveyed indicated that they plan to interview students from the event.
