James Bailey, the Ave Tucker Professor of Leadership and chair of the Department of Management, was quoted in the Washington Post Express on Dec. 13 for a story on ways to resolve workplace conflict. “In my experience, the hardest three words to utter in the English language are ‘I am sorry,’” Bailey said. “And yet they are incredibly powerful words. There’s nothing more disarming than somebody coming to you and saying, ‘I’m sorry,’ especially if they know they misbehaved.
