Seminar Addresses Information Disclosure, Environmental Policy

Cohen speaks at part of the Dec. 1 event hosted by the Department of Strategic Management and Public Policy.

Mark Cohen, vice president for research and a senior fellow at Resources for the Future, spoke about “Information Disclosure as Environmental Policy in the U.S,” as part of a Dec. 1 seminar hosted by GWSB’s Department of Strategic Management and Public Policy.

Cohen’s talk examined the social and legal pressures for companies to provide information to the public about their manufacturing facilities or other practices that would affect the environment.

Cohen noted growing stakeholder pressures for transparency, especially from governments, shareholders, and customers, and discussed the role of information disclosure as a possible tool to address them.
