GWSB has named Sanjay Rupani as Chief Strategy Officer, responsible for helping to guide the School in its mission to engage the world from the nation’s capital and become a premier institution at the intersection of business and policy.
In this role, Rupani will work with all key stakeholders of the business school, including faculty, students, staff, the GWSB Board of Advisors, alumni and trustees, to identify strategic opportunities and initiatives that will continue to enhance GWSB’s reputation and prepare students to succeed in the global economy.
“Rupani’s work in social entrepreneurship and business, as well as his international experience, is a perfect fit with the School’s emphasis on international business, ethics and sustainability,” said GWSB Dean Doug Guthrie, professor of management and international business. “We are pleased that he has joined our team.”
Rupani, who earned his Masters of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business, most recently served as managing director of Direct Involvement, an organization that educates future leaders about sustainability efforts in developing countries. Rupani has led strategic initiatives for both the private and public sectors. In addition, he teaches courses on sustainability and social entrepreneurship. Rupani holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Virginia.
“The GW School of Business sits at the crossroads of business and politics in one of the most powerful cities in the world,” Rupani said. “I look forward to working with the entire GW School of Business community to find new and innovative ways for the School to lead the discussion on the future of business education. We will have some very exciting opportunities to announce over the next 18 months.”
